Power of Peppermint!
I don’t leave home without this versatile, powerful oil in my purse! Seriously, I am not kidding. It is my belief to start first with nature’s own remedies before going to pharmaceutics. Like Oregano, this oil is profound in its healing abilities and is one of the oldest and most highly regarded healing herbs on the planet. It too can be ingested and used topically for meaningful healing results. This powerful mint contains antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, insecticidal, antispasmodic, analgesic, cooling and carminative properties to name just a few. It is used in a variety of home remedies for indigestion, nausea, morning sickness, flatulence, respiratory conditions, sinus infections, congestion, migraines, tension headaches, memory, fevers, hot flashes, autism, soar throat, muscle tension, aches, stiffness, arthritis, circulation and varicose veins. Pretty impressive, right?
Peppermint is powered by it main constituents, menthol and menthone. In one study in the European Journal of Medical Research it was noted that menthol displayed therapeutic efficacy for the treatment of chronic inflammatory disorders such as allergic rhinitis, colitis and bronchial asthma. If you are fatigued or having difficulty focusing, taking a few whiffs of peppermint oil~ it is a fantastic way to boost your energy in a non-toxic manner. You can also increase concentration levels by placing a drop on the nape of your neck or temples or adding a drop to your water or tea.
In the past few decades clinical studies have shown evidence that peppermint oil also provides relief to those with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and GI track spasms. In 2014, the Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology published studies on peppermint oil effects in IBS patients showing its successes in improving IBS symptoms and abdominal pain. For digestion related conditions such as dyspepsia, peppermint pairs wonderfully with caraway in both homeopathic and ayurvedic remedies. Tufts University partnered with the Human Research Center on Aging and concluded that peppermint works as a strong antioxidant, anti-allergenic and analgesic.
So this is why I don’t leave home without my peppermint oil and my peppermint beedlets! This oil has saved the day for me many times. Thank you peppermint!
